RE: How MUCH pumpkin?

We were just told to give our 70# GSD about 2 TBSP twice a day. We our at a campground with high iron and sulpher in the well water. It was making our dogs sick, our friend recommended adding the pumpkin to their diets. Hope this helps.

RE: What happens when you ignore your Exterior Cauking Duties...

We bought our 06 Starwood last labor day. I noticed some issues with the back of the trailer. I stopped by the Monaco service center and the service techs told me it was probable due to water getting in. They told me it wasn't covered under my 12 months warranty, per owners manual I'm suppose to check it twice annually. One tech pointed several joints for my to check right away. When I got to my brother in laws I borrowed a ladder and got on top. I found one hole the size of a quarter and 3 the size of a dime. I learned a valuable lesson about checking roof seals/seams before I purchase it and doing better checks in the spring. I will also be getting a ladder installed so I can pop up there more regularly. We are on day 61 of living in this during our transition to civilian life, and it has been an education on what is important for weekend camping and full timing.

RE: Any haulers visit Glacier NP lately?

We stayed at the West Glacier KOA last year, loved it. Its 3-4 minutes to the park entrance. There is a cookie at the KOA that does Flat Iron steaks every night, I recommend you get their early and take part. They also have a pool, hot tub, arcade, playground, and an ice cream stand.

RE: Yet another RV accident, maybe a repost

I guess he thought the no rv sign only applied to Class As. Nothing like putting the sign far enough in front of the danger to actually help somebody.

RE: A Road to Nowhere, Any Sugestions?

Here I sit 2 miles from U.S. 83. I have driven it from the Canadian Border to Bismarck, it is a nice stretch of highway. As a matter of fact I will take it south for 60 miles, make right 3 miles, another right 8 miles, then left to our favorite campground. You gotta love a 3 day weekend and family that loves to camp. We will be moving to Indy in 2 weeks. We plan on taking US 2 across ND, MN, and MI, then turn south and follow Lake Michigan down to Indiana. We learned to appreciate the smaller highways and byways last year on our vacation to Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Devils Tower. We got great gas mileage at the lower speeds.

RE: What brands are out there?

I had an Executive that just went bad. The dealer was authorized to replace it with something from Best Buy. I end up getting a Sony DAV-HDX275. It is a 5 disc changer dvd/cd/radio home theater system. I have only had it 4 days but so far so good. We are living in our TT for the next 2-3 months so it gets used a couple of hours daily. It does have proprietary plugs for the speakers that I had to splice to the current speaker wires. I didn't mind splicing but could be an issue for some.

RE: Another question regarding dogs in national parks

We went to Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Devils Tower last year with our GSD and Aussie and never had a problem. We kept them in their kennels in the bed of the truck, no topper. We parked in the shade where possible, but they had a few days in the sun and it was in the 80-90s. We took 5 gallons of water and made sure their water dishes were full before we left them. We never had a problem and didn't have any complaints from Rangers, strangers, or the dogs. We left their food and food dishes locked up at the camp ground so we wouldn't attract bears, as if two dogs wouldn't smell good to a bear. :h We had bison walk within 2 feet of the truck several times and none of them got upset about the dogs. You will find yourself surround by idiots while you are there, don't follow their example. I remember reading that 35-50 people a year get gored by a bison. Stay in your car! If you want to get close to one, just drive around long enough and you will find one walking right down the middle of the road. When you find him pull to the side and kill your engine. They will mosey right on bye. If you have time go to Glacier its better in my opinion. Its more rugged and less people to deal with. :B

RE: Are you camping Memorial Day Weekend and where?

I going to help North Dakota farmers as we are in a drought right now. So I'm taking the family to our favorite campground, Downstream Campground at Garrison Dam. So the farmers can count on getting rain 3 of the 4 days we will be gone. It happens every year so I might as well look on the positive side and grab another cup of coffee.

RE: Quad bunks.

We bought a new 06 Mckenzie Starwood SL 30CKS from a dealer last year. It has quad bunks in the rear. The whole family loves it, the kids have their space and the wife and I have ours.

RE: Bunk Ladder

I needed a bunk ladder as well and didn't like the current market offerings. I have 24" between bunks so the after market ladders would have blocked the aisle. I sold my last TT to a local cabinet maker. So I called him to see if he could do some mods to my new one. He made a counter extension and a bunk ladder. The ladder it measures 14" X 38". He screwed it to the top and bottom bunk so its very stable. It doesn't impede the closet door. http://thumb6.webshots.net/t/66/666/1/4/43/2205104430103465326MwVHAB_th.jpg

RE: Tom Raper RV Sales

My wife and I bought our first travel trailer from Tom Raper. We had a great experience and were pleased. My only advice would be to watch out for the insurance and other miscellaneous charges. Hindsight when we sold it later is the additional insurance and such was a waste of money. Andy
